Cherry Blossom Festival in the Gardens of the World

The pale pink cherry blossoms are a clear sign: spring is here! Thee Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year in April. It takes place in the Gardens of the World in the district of Marzahn. Around 25,000 visitors are expected to attend each year. A special highlight this year is the 20th anniversary of the Korean Garden.

The festival takes place on the occasion of "Hanami", which means "looking at blossoms" in Japanese and refers to the traditional Japanese cherry blossom festival. In Japan, the cherry blossom is regarded as a symbol of transience and beauty because it can only be admired for a few days each year. Visitors of Cherry Blossom Festival in the Gardens of the World can look forward to a wide-ranging entertainment and stage program in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean gardens.

The lineup ranges from dance and song to drumming and arts and crafts as well as culinary delights. The program has been deliberately structured to ensure that the Japanese, Chinese and Korean sections are presented in a balanced way, showcasing their respective cultures and cuisines. A special highlight is the classic fashion show on Sunday. The playground with XXL games is also particularly popular with families.

As in previous years, numerous cosplay enthusiasts will gather to showcase their manga costumes in a competition. Cosplayers are eligible for discounted admission on both days, which can only be purchased on-site at the ticket counters. Admission for them costs 4 euros.
