The Futurium is a venue for exhibitions and events on the subject of shaping the future in Berlin.

The Futurium - House of Futures is a forum for science, business and politics in Berlin. The building is located in the government district and highlights the contribution of science, research and technology to shaping the future. The initiator of the project is the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The partners involved include the Max Planck Society, the Helmholtz Association and the Fraunhofer Society.

Designs for the Future in the Futurium

Visitors to the exhibition can explore various concepts for the future. The connection between man, nature and technology is examined from different perspectives. Often, no ready-made solutions are presented: Instead, visitors are encouraged to think and tinker. The Futurium Lab, for example, invites visitors to experiment with soldering irons, 3D printers, laser cutters and much more.

Architecture, Photovoltaics and Skywalk

The Futurium is located between the Reichstag and the Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station), directly on the Spree river. The large panoramic windows are visible from afar. The Berlin architects Richter and Musikowski focused on openness and clear, sculptural forms in their design. The entire building meets the standard of a low-energy house. The Futurium offers around 3,200 square meters of exhibition space on three floors. On the roof of the building, the so-called “Skywalk” not only offers a view of the numerous collector fields for photovoltaics, but also provides a great view of the Spreebogen and the Chancellery.
